Sticking it to Steny

Open Letter to Cong. Steny Hoyer (new majority leader, US congress)

Dear Cong. Hoyer,

Everyone wants to see an end to the government shutdown. And let me say that we voters know that the reason for the shutdown is the unwillingness of Democrats in Congress to provide some 5 billion dollars to fund a barrier for portions of the southern border, which is to prevent and deter illegal entry of aliens into our country. Likewise, every sensible, informed person also knows that this funding is essential and will be effective as an important part of border security.

Federal workers on furlough here due to government shutdown especially want this disruptive government shutdown to come to an end, so they can return to paid employment. We all know the basic reason for opposition to wall funding is for the Democrats to build up and gain political power by increasing the number of poor, dependent people in the country, who will likely vote Democrat, even by illegal, fraudulent means if possible.

Since there is no good or valid reason to oppose the wall funding, please stop the political games, and do your job as representative of US citizens and lawful residents in our district. Vote funding for the wall, and end the government shutdown NOW.

It is disgraceful and shameful that a leader with your stature and influence should allow himself to be so degraded to pandering for partisan power at the expense of national security and the well-being of every legal resident and citizen in our country. Please urge your fellow Democrats to act likewise for the good of all Americans as well.

  1. I haveived in PG CPunty for more than 60 years. It seems like Hoyer has been in PG politics all or most of that time. I do not remember if he has been in there for quite that long, but extremely long. Now he isin District 5, not 4 anymore. Lots of Gerrymandering there. He has never helped his constituents throughout all the time he has been in office. Always for himself and following the worst of the worst. I cannot tell you how sick he makes me. He does not have one piece of ethical behavior in him. We really need to get him out.

  2. Your comments hit the nail on the head. The only agenda foremost to the democrats now and since President Trump took office is impeachment. There will be nothing done for this country or the legal citizens who will be picking up the bill for every illegal person who crosses that border. The only thing that will be going on in the senate for the foreseeable future will be endless investigations and hearings in the attempt to give the dems some kind of platform to run on in 2020. I just can’t understand how someone who hasn’t done anything to help the people who voted for her can be held in such high regard (Senator Pelosi). At the same time we have a President who has kept more campaign promises than anyone in recent history and gets no credit for anything!

  3. Steny is a skillful politician. He has become durable by pandering to federal workers – big government and special interests. Anyone who has been in elected office for many years logically develops a certain disdain for voters, which he doesn’t need to please, because his power and control becomes so great. They say “power corrupts. and absolute power corrupts absolutely”. Elected leaders, especially those that have lost touch with ordinary voters need to be challenged, even if winning is difficult. Again, Steny has proven very durable; and he has a lot of supporters from years of giving favors. Government is too big!

  4. The simple answer to virtually ALL the problems associated with politics in general is TERM LIMITS on all levels; federal, state, and local. Term limits would all but eliminate the vested interest most politicians enjoy as a rule rather than exception. With no time to develop such vested interests, a political “player” would, in effect, be forced to actually perform their duties.
