Meet Lee Havis
Lee was born and raised in his native College Park, and graduated with a BS degree in Engineering from the University of Connecticut. He also holds a JD degree in law from the Catholic University of America. In public life, he has been active in Republican politics for many years, most recently as a term of 5 years as member of the Prince George’s County Republican Central Committee, and as an active member of the Northern Prince George’s County Republican Club. He is also founder and leader of several non-partisan political groups working for more citizen-friendly, accountable government, such as Free State Patriots and Citizens for a Better Prince George’s County. He was also 2018 and 2022 Republican candidate for Maryland State Senate in LD21 and a candidate for US Congress in MD5 in 2020.
After a post-graduate degree in Foreign Trade from the American Institute of Foreign Trade (Glendale, AZ), he served about two years in the Peace Corps in Panama, as an assistant professor in the faculty of engineering at the University of Panama. And, thereafter, he gradually entered the field of Montessori education, first as a teacher and then in the training of teachers in this specialized field of scientific education. Eventually, Lee founded the International Montessori Society, where he has been an innovative leader in this field, having written a 400-page book on the subject entitled, “The Technology of Scientific Education“, published in 2023.
Lee sees his campaign as a way to open up dialogue and discussion on a new direction for Maryland state government, one that is more “For the Citizens, for a Change“. His special focus is on a fundamental change to the role of government in education. So, in his campaign, he will highlight how Maryland government can change from the present system of wasteful, destructive control of education through academic censorship and monopoly, to one of choice and competition in the free market economy.
