Lee Havis presents finding of research to assure election integrity before the Montgomery County Board of Elections.

Fellow Marylander,
Having been involved in public interest politics and civic action in Maryland for most of my adult life, I now think the time has come for me to seek elected office.  I especially want to help bring innovative ideas and cost-effective solutions to problems of government in Maryland through service in the Maryland State Senate.  The direction of my effort will primarily work to lower the burden of excessive and unnecessary taxes and to promote more individual liberty to bring about a better life and well-being for all.
In my professional life as a leader in innovative, private education, I have become especially aware of the serious problems and obstacles placed on the life of ordinary citizens by the oppressive functioning of  government.  In the Maryland State Senate, I would lead efforts to change this condition and address these problems, such as through stronger support for personal responsibility, individual freedom of choice, and fair competition in all areas of society and commerce.

To lower taxes, we must reduce excessive and unnecessary spending by government, which promotes corruption, oppressive regulation, and mismanagement that disturbs and degrade the life, freedom, and economic progress of all ordinary citizens.   Maryland is one of the highest taxed states in the nation, which is totally out of proportion and unnecessary to the reasonable demands of government.    Other states do just as well or better with much less a burden of taxing and government control on its citizens.
Even though  median income of Marylanders is relatively high, this is due primarily to unsustainable high salary levels and a large federal work force in the Maryland suburbs close to Washington, DC.  Unfortunately, this government-dependent economy is not a reliable basis for healthy economic success and progress in the future.
In Maryland, we must therefore work to restore and sustain a more normal, healthy type of non-government free-market economy.  This will require strong leadership in the Maryland State Senate, to work with the Governor to stand against unnecessary and wasteful state government spending which has been the bad pattern and practice in the state for many years.   Only with this responsible, forward-looking approach can Maryland provide an environment for business and employment opportunity which will bring about an affordable, high quality of family and social life for all.
I ask for your vote and support to stand with me on behalf of the issues and approach of lower taxes and more individual liberty I am representing in the important state elections that are before us now in 2018.
