Accountable to Citizens

For too long, political leaders in the General Assembly have made citizens accountable to them for benefit and relief from oppressive government, such as through special interest laws and regulations rather through government that serves all in a fair and equitable manner.  Elected leaders should instead be accountable to all the citizens alike, which is the essence of their role as true public servants of all the people.

As Maryland Senator, I would work to restore this proper role and function of elected officials to listen and be accountable to all citizens, instead of targeting groups and individuals through special interest legislation.  To implement this, I would seek regular citizen input and advice in the preparation and support of specific legislation.

  1. What is your position on abortion? What is your position on taxpayer funded abortion and gender altering drugs and surgery also funded by taxpayers? What is your position on parental rights to make these decisions for their minor-aged children?

    1. Abortion – I agree with what Ronald Reagan said on this matter: “Only GOD knows when life begins”. That said, I’m opposed to an absolute ban on abortion, or when the life or health of the mother is at risk; or in the case of rape or incest. However, I’m open to a discussion on some limitation of late term abortions in other ordinary cases. I’m opposed to taxpayer funded abortion or gender altering drugs and surgery funded by taxpayers. I suppose parental rights to make decisions on such medical procedures when related to their minor-aged children. I support only two genders, male/female. So, I’m opposed to gender identity and sexual orientation indoctrination of children in public schools.
