College Park fundraiser – July 27, 2022

Taken at the Havis campaign fundraiser in College Park, MD – July 27, 2022

In College Park, MD, on July 27, 2022, my campaign held a “kick-off to the General” fundraiser event at the local FVW center in my hometown. In my comments to those attending, I spoke about the need for a re-direction of the Maryland General Assembly, to break the chains of entrenched partisan control to inflate the power and control of elected officials, and move in the direction of government for the citizens, for a change. I emphasized especially the long-term solution to all the problems lies in correction and reform of the whole bloated and dysfunctional state system of public education.

As a life-long innovator in private education, I shared some of my ideas to begin such a reform, focusing especially on the first step of real parent choice in the field. While much dialogue and gradual steps are needed to bring about real change in public education, the single more effective step would be the repeal of compulsory school attendance laws in the state. In the Maryland State Senate, I would certainly lead the effort in this direction.

I also pointed out that success in my campaign is only possible by working together with other like-minded citizens, such as those attending this initial “kick-off” campaign. So, I see this first campaign event as the beginning of much more work together to achieve ultimate success in the actual voting in November.
