Lions Club Meeting in Beltsville

Lee with members of the Beltsville Lions Club on June 1, 2022

On June 1, 2022, I shared dinner and discussion with the Beltsville Lions Club. In my brief comments to members, I pointed out the basic reason for my campaign for State Senator in Legislative District 21, focusing especially on my extensive background as an innovator in the field of scientific education, and the need for a fundamental different direction of government for the citizens for a change.

In my presentation, I also pointed out how my work in scientific education led me to see the great destructive influence of government in education, which has only grown more destructive over the many years I have been involved in this field. During that time, I therefore took an active role in working for grassroots political change to better serve freedom for ordinary citizens. Most of my recent effort in this public interest politics has been directed to the region of Legislative District 21, which includes my home reisdence of College Park, as well as Beltsville, where my father was employed many years ago as a horticulturist at the Beltsville Plant Industry Station.

Over many years in the field of scientific education, I have come to recognize that quality and value in any field, especially education, can only come through competition and choice in the free marketplace, not through the censorship and monopoly, such as evident in the continuing pattern and direction of the current state legislature.

So, the message of my campaign is to voice support for such issues as parent choice in education, lower taxes, free market solutions and healthcare freedom of choice. While I realize that change from the current direction of government censorship, dependency, and control is hard to break, I think that the recent covid “pandemic” has made the issues I’m raising more personal and immediate to many more citizens and voters than ever before. So, I welcome support for my campaign, and to follow up for more information, at my website, www.havisforsenate.com; email to lee@havisforsenate.com
