PG Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association meeting

On June 8, 2022, I attended a meeting of the Prince George’s County Fire and Rescue Association meeting, held in Lanham, MD. Besides, the regular business of the Association, some 30 candidates for public office in Prince George’s County were on hand to briefly speak to the group, which represents volunteers in fire stations all over the county.

In my comments, I focused on the deplorable condition of public education, and the pressing need for effective parent choice in this field. This is the vital first step towards quality and value in the field, rather than the current direction of the Maryland General Assembly towards ever-increasing taxes to fund the coercion, censorship, and monopoly of the current system.

While all who spoke about public education, did so to voice concern to improve or correct the current system, most favored MORE, not LESS spending into the current oppressive system. In contrast, I spoke for the need for parent choice to access a wide diversity of alternatives that compete in the free market economy. While I’m sure many of the volunteer fire and rescue personnel agree with this message, I was even more pleased that so many of the other candidates could hear this strong message of choice and competition in education as well.
